There is no substitute for building a good relationship with Allah Almighty for the success of this world and the hereafter. The servant has certain feelings and actions that allow him to have a good relationship with Allah Almighty. These feelings and actions are very important for the believing Muslims.

Allah Almighty’s mercy continues to man. From the time of being in the womb of the mother, the servant is soaked in the unimaginable blessings of Allah the Almighty. Grew up in His mercy. Gratitude for this mercy and blessing of Allah Almighty is the only way to establish a good relationship with a servant. The feelings and deeds of the servant with Allah will be as follows- Gratitude and appreciation

One of the most important tasks in establishing a good relationship with God is to express gratitude and praise to Him at every moment. And that must be done through words, deeds and consent. There is no way to stay away from the gratitude and praise of Allah. This is what Allah, the Exalted, has instructed His servants in the Qur'an. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

فَاذۡکُرُوۡنِیۡۤ اَذۡکُرۡکُمۡ وَ اشۡکُرُوۡا لِیۡ وَ لَا تَکۡفُرُوۡنِ ﴿۱۵۲﴾

Meaning: So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me. [Al-Baqara 2:152]

The fear of Allah the Almighty

The believer who fears Allah mixed with love will establish the bondage of Allah with him. As Allah the Almighty says-

کِلۡتَا الۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ اٰتَتۡ اُکُلَهَا وَ لَمۡ تَظۡلِمۡ مِّنۡهُ شَیۡئًا ۙ وَّ فَجَّرۡنَا خِلٰلَهُمَا نَهَرًا ﴿ۙ۳۳﴾

Meaning: Each of the two gardens produced its fruit and did not fall short thereof in anything. And We caused to gush forth within them a river. [Al-Kahf 18:33]

As a result of the feeling that "Allah sees and knows all the conditions of the servant", the heart and mind of the servant becomes full of fear and devotion to Allah and is ashamed of his disobedience. So it is an insult to go beyond the bounds of obedience to God. It is this feeling that makes the servant a friend of Allah the Almighty.

Surrender to God

Allaah has power over the slave. The slave is under his control and without him there is no chance of liberation and shelter for the slave. So the servant who always surrenders himself to Allah, runs towards Him, relies on Him, establish better connection with Allah Almighty. Because the servant believes that-

مَا مِنۡ دَآبَّۃٍ اِلَّا هُوَ اٰخِذٌۢ بِنَاصِیَتِهَا ﴿۵۶﴾

Meaning: There is no creature but that He holds its forelock. [Hud 11:56]

عَلَی اللّٰهِ فَتَوَکَّلُوۡۤا اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۲۳﴾

Meaning: upon Allah rely, if you should be believers.[ Al-Ma'ida 5:23]

To be dependent on the mercy of Allah

A good relationship is formed with the servant who is always dependent on the mercy of Allah. He is not dependent on anyone other than Allah. For Allah has said to the servant in fear, Do not turn away from Allah's mercy no matter what the calamity may be. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

لَا تَقۡنَطُوۡا مِنۡ رَّحۡمَۃِ اللّٰهِ ﴿۵۳﴾

Meaning: do not despair of the mercy of Allah. [Az-Zumar 39:53]

Belief in the power of Allah the Almighty

Man is not only creatively weak; rather, neither man nor anyone has the power to confront anything before the Almighty God. He is the possessor of omnipotence. Only a person who believes in the power of God is able to establish a good relationship with Allah the Almighty. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

وَ اِذَاۤ اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِقَوۡمٍ سُوۡٓءًا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهٗ ۚ وَ مَا لَهُمۡ مِّنۡ دُوۡنِهٖ مِنۡ وَّالٍ ﴿۱۱﴾

Meaning: And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron. [Ar-Ra'd 13:11]

Always keep hope in Allah the Almighty

In building a good relationship with God, there is no alternative but to hope and fear Him. When a servant disobeys Allah and goes out of obedience to Him, it seems as if the threat or punishment given by Allah is holding him back.

On the other hand, the person who obeys him, imitates him, obeys his commands, it seems that he is fulfilling the promise given by Allah. This belief helps people to maintain a good relationship with him. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

وَ مَنۡ یُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوۡلَهٗ وَ یَخۡشَ اللّٰهَ وَ یَتَّقۡهِ فَاُولٰٓئِکَ هُمُ الۡفَآئِزُوۡنَ ﴿۵۲﴾

Meaning: And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger and fears Allah and is conscious of Him - it is those who are the attainers. [An-Nur 24:52]

Therefore, a believing Muslim should follow the instructions of the Qur'an in his life in order to maintain a good relationship with Allah. And in that the servant will have a good relationship with Allah. The believer will attain success in this world and in the Hereafter.

O Allah! Give the believing Muslim the ability to establish good relations with you. Empower yourself to be a guardian, a caretaker. Be able to include your beloved servants. Amen.
